The Daytona 500 is always so exciting. It’s the start to a season, a first look at new teams and paint schemes, and in introduction to new drivers. The big race is also notorious for big wrecks, so sipping on a Daytona Destroyer makes sense. I tweaked the recipe a bit to get it the way I like it, so here’s my version. NASCAR is racing at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend. I’m excited for the tight racing that I know we will see in the GEICO 500. Because I don’t want to miss any of the race, for our tailgate, we will be doing a build-your-own hotdog bar. Hotdogs are great race day fare, and I just couldn’t settle on one type this weekend. Today’s Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway made me think of a restaurant that used to exist there called the The Black Sheep. Richmond has a lot of great restaurants and fantastic food, but an unusual sandwich sounds perfect for today. This sandwich is named after the CSS Virginia, a Confederate warship. This weekend is a dirt race. As I thought about what kind of fun snack or drink I was going to explore in honor of the Food City Dirt Race at Bristol Motor Speedway, I couldn’t help but think of the fun kid’s dessert that looks like a cup of dirt with gummy worms in it. This weekend NASCAR holds the Folds of Honor Quiktrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. When the races are in Atlanta, I usually look for recipes of Georgia favorites to enjoy because I’ve spent some wonderful times in Georgia and eaten some incredible meals there, too. One of my favorite things about living in the south is how freely the margaritas flow, and one of my favorite trends these day is the flight concept.
