PLEASANTON, Texas – What was scheduled as the first race on the I-37 Speedway schedule saw Mother Nature sweep the night with steady drizzle and a light rain washing out the nights events.
The season opener was to feature the Cash Bred Off Road IMCA Modifieds, Swenson Racing Products Sport Modifieds, SABFI Transportation Street Stocks, All In Design Pure Stocks and Brown Chevrolet Sport Compacts, with the Nogalitos Gear Limited Late Models and kids Go-Karts off until next race.(March 24th).
Also slated for action, their first appearance of the season, was the A-Line Auto Parts Dwarf Car Racing Series of Texas. The DCRST has four visits to I-37 Speedway on the 2018 schedule, the next is April 21st.
Friday night was an open practice for those wanting to check out new rides, upgrades on equipment and set up or those just wanting to shake off the off-season rust. A special fast time challenge was held for each class with a two lap time trial. The fastest car would score a $70 bonus. It was also a chance for the track to work any bugs out of the new transponder system installed over the winter.
Defending track champion Talon Minten was fastest in IMCA Modifieds, JJ Jennings in Sport Modifieds, Cody Leonard in Limited Late Models, Dennis Taber in Street Stocks, Cody Leonard in his sisters new Pure Stock and Trevor Bettis in Sport Compacts.
The next scheduled race is March 24th with all six classes, plus the kids Go-Karts providing a full slate of racing. For more info visit http://www.i37speedway.com/ or the track facebook page.
