NASCAR is at Daytona International Speedway this Independence Day weekend!  In honor of our nation’s birthday I’ll be mixing up some classic 4th of July food to enjoy while we watch the race. In addition to enjoying America’s past time of Motorsports, I will be spending time with friends and family. Independence Day is a good time to remember our country’s founding principles and to be grateful that we live in the best country in the world–a place where individuality is valued and differences are valued.

Mike will be grilling up some burgers, and we will top them with bacon and cheddar cheese with some bbq sauce. I’ll be making my potato salad (I already shared that recipe!).  We will wash it all down with  red sangria, and we will have cake for dessert. However you celebrate our nation’s birthday, I hope you have fun!

Red Sangria

orange, lemon, lime

lemonade

2 oz triple sec

2 T sugar

Berries

4 cups ginger ale

Pour red wine into a glass pitcher. Cut orange, lemon, and lime into wedges. Squeeze them into the wine, making sure you remove seeds. Add a splash of lemonade and triple sec. Add sugar and stir. Refrigerate. Right before serving, add berries and ginger ale. Serve over ice.
