GLENDORA, Calif. – As part of the celebration that is the East Coast opener, the AMALIE Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, the world’s largest motorsports sanctioning body will make an offer to area students that they simply can’t refuse: 50 percent off general admission tickets for any race day during the event.

Discounted Thursday tickets are $11; Friday tickets are $21 and tickets purchased by students with ID on either Saturday or Sunday will cost $32 each.

Every ticket purchased for the thrilling NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event, March 17-20, at Gainesville Raceway, includes pit access that gives fans direct access to the teams and allows fans a unique opportunity to see firsthand the highly-skilled mechanics service their hot rods between rounds, and get autographs from their favorite NHRA drivers.

Students can purchase the discounted tickets only at the ticket window and the special offer is available to any student possessing a valid student ID. This is a walk up offer only, two discounts per ID, and cannot be combined with any other offer and is not valid on previous purchases.

The 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season is in full swing and will once again be one of the most exciting years in drag racing history. The best in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle will once again battle for the coveted race victory at one of drag racing’s most tradition-rich events. Spencer Massey (Top Fuel), Ron Capps (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and Karen Stoffer (Pro Stock Motorcycle) were last year’s winners of the race, which will once again be televised on FOX Sports 1.

Mello Yello Drag Racing Series qualifying begins Friday, March 18, with sessions at 12:45 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. The final two qualifying sessions will take place Saturday, March 19, at noon and 3:15 p.m. Final eliminations are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 20.

Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., NHRA is the primary sanctioning body for the sport of drag racing in the United States. NHRA presents 24 national events featuring the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series. NHRA provides competition opportunities for drivers of all levels in the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series, NHRA Summit Racing Series and the NHRA Drags: Street Legal Style presented by AAA. NHRA also offers NHRA Jr. Street for teens and the Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League for youth ages 5 to 17. In addition, NHRA owns and operates five racing facilities: Atlanta Dragway in Georgia; Gainesville Raceway in Florida; National Trail Raceway in Ohio; Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis; and Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in Southern California.
