Despite sitting out Martinsville (Va.) Speedway this past October, the 2014 ARCA Scott Rookie of the Year finished 15th in the overall series standings.

Other highlights in his rookie season included a 13th place finish at his home track of Texas Motor Speedway in June, a 15th on the road course at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and a 14th place finish at Talladega Superspeedway, where the AM Racing team showed their support of the then upcoming presidential election with a Trump- Pence support paint scheme.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity to return to AM Racing next season,” said Self. “I learned a lot in my first year of competition and I’m eager to take that knowledge and return to the track and earn better results. I have a great team and supporters behind me and I will continue to work hard for them both on and off the track.”
Returning alongside Self for 2017 will be longtime supporter AM Technical Solutions.

Austin-based AM Technical Solutions (AMTS) is a leading construction management, project management and facility solutions firm for high-tech markets. AMTS provides diverse integrated solutions across a facilities life cycle to include new cleanroom construction, integrated construction management, total quality programs, capital asset solutions and cleanroom certification and testing.

“I’m proud to have AM Technical Solutions on board with me again this season in Trucks,” Self said. “I’m overwhelmed and thankful for the amazing support they continue to provide. 2017 will be the sixth season where I’m able to pursue my dreams because of them. Our team and I remain committed to doing everything it takes to AMTS and their clients, all of our fans and partners proud.”

AM Racing team principal Tim Self said the overall improvement in Austin Wayne Self throughout the season justified the team’s decision for 2017.

“We’re proud of the progress Austin made in 2016,” Tim Self said. “We knew being his rookie year that there would be trial and tribulations, but Austin never gave up on and off the race track. It was only justified to keep him apart of AM Racing next season with the understanding that we want to enhance and continue to build on the program as a whole.”

Prior to joining the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2016, Self, competed for two season in the ARCA Racing Series where he earned one win (Winchester 2015), finished second in the championship standings and won the S&S Volvo Most Laps Completed award.

The Texan says his experience in ARCA attributed to some of his stronger runs in 2016, including his top-10 performance at Eldora Speedway this past summer.

“Like 2016, I hope to lean on my past experiences to help make me a better driver,” he added. “Without my prior experience on the dirt in ARCA, I don’t think I would have adapted as well as I did at Eldora.

“AM Racing is still a new team, but we are a growing quickly. At the end of every race, results are important not only for our manufacturer and marketing partners, but for our team too. We’re excited about the progress we’ve made with our superspeedway program and hope that yields a strong showing at Daytona in February.”

To learn more information on AM Racing please visit awsracing.com.

For more on Austin Wayne Self and AM Racing, please visit awsracing.com, like his Facebook page (Austin Wayne Self) or follow him on Twitter @AustinWSelf.

Story and photo courtesy of AM Racing

MOORESVILLE, N.C.– Officials from AM Racing announced that 20-year-old Austin Wayne Self will return to the team to compete in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) next season.
