(NHRA photo)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Glenn trailered Aaron Stanfield in the final of the 40<sup>th<\/sup> annual NHRA Texas Fall Nationals to notch his seventh win of the season, 20<sup>th <\/sup>of his career and third-in-four Countdown to the Championship playoff races. Glenn\u2019s first victory on the Motorplex\u2019s famed all-concrete surface also boosted his lead over arch-rival Greg Anderson from 25-to-60 points with two races remaining.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI definitely feel more relaxed this season in the Countdown, maybe because last year was so ridiculously brutal,\u201d said Glenn, who watched Anderson secure his sixth Pro Stock crown by 11 points (2,714-2,703) &#8211; less than one round of racing worth 20 points. \u201cI mean, I don\u2019t even remember it as 11 points &#8211; I remember it as two-thousandths-of-a-second.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs far as my reaction times, I was driving way better last year than this year. I feel like I\u2019m good and consistent, but not as good as I should be. I was definitely on it last year but the car came around and we\u2019ve got a better handle on it, got more experience and I feel more relaxed going into it. This year it feels like it\u2019s been me and Greg against the world. (NHRA photo)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Driver of the RAD Torque Systems Chevrolet Camaro, Glenn covered the quarter-mile during the final in 6.605-seconds at 208.89 mph. Stanfield ran 6.622-seconds at 208.75 mph in the Janac Brothers Racing Camaro. Glenn defeated Cody Coughlin, Eric Latino and five-time Pro Stock world champ Jeg Coughlin Jr. en route to the final pairing.<\/p>\n<p>Glenn\u2019s path to victory was facilitated when Stanfield upset Anderson, who qualified No. 1 in the HendrickCars.com Camaro, during their semifinal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would have felt the same way if Greg was next to me or not,\u201d said Glenn, a 34-year-old native of Covington, Wash., residing in Mooresville, N.C. \u201cI hadn\u2019t felt like I was hitting the (Christmas) tree very good today\u2026I wasn\u2019t getting the numbers and the results I wanted. It was good enough to get it done. (NHRA photo)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI knew we had a good car going into it and it was up to me to maintain that, not mess it up,\u201d Glenn said. \u201cI just try to take everything one win at a time. Soon as we get to the next track I don\u2019t even think about the last one. Everything is in the past and I\u2019m focused on the next one. But I\u2019ve always had in the back of my mind that Dave Connolly has 27 (wins), and I\u2019d really like to get past him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That mindset also applies to Anderson, 64, the all-time winner in the \u201cFactory Hot Rod\u201d class. \u201cYou know, Greg Anderson, there\u2019s a reason he\u2019s got 113 wins or something (actually 112),\u201d Glenn said. \u201cHis car is fast and he always does his job when he needs to. To be able to beat him at all at any point in a race is tough, especially in the Countdown, because throughout the season his car just gets better and better and better and better. I don\u2019t want to have a repeat of last year. I want to be 11 points to the good side this time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just need to keep turning on win lights, just hit all my shift-points every run, just try to get every bonus point I can because Greg\u2019s going to take all of \u2018em if I don\u2019t. Do everything I can and let the crew chiefs do their job. (NHRA photo)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Glenn began his title quest by winning the 2025 season-opening NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla., and followed by hoisting Wally Trophies after the Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas; Four-Wide Nationals in Concord, N.C.; at Kent, Wash., near Seattle; at Reading, Pa., and the fall Four-Wide Carolina Nats in Concord.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday\u2019s eliminations put a bow on the fifth annual Stampede of Speed, a 10-day program of drag racing mixed with Texas-themed live music, menus and family-friendly events throughout Ellis County. All that activity punctuated the 40<sup>th<\/sup> birthday celebration of International Drag Racing Hall of Famer Billy Meyer\u2019s Motorplex.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s my second final here; we let one slip by a few years ago,\u201d Glenn said. \u201cTo come here on the 40<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary year and win my 20th race is definitely special, a cool milestone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Next event on the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series schedule is the NHRA Nevada Nationals Oct. 30-Nov. 2 at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
