International Raceway in mid-August with 2012 world champion and fellow-Californian \u201cFast\u201d Jack Beckman as substitute driver. NHRA rules allow for Beckman to add any points he collects to Force\u2019s total.<\/p>\n<p>Beckman subsequently won the NHRA Midwest Nationals on Sept. 30 at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Ill., outside St. Louis. But Beckman, 58, was advised to sit out the final day of competition during the 39<sup>th<\/sup> annual Texas NHRA FallNationals at Texas Motorplex in Ennis on Sunday, Oct. 13, after experiencing vertigo-like symptoms overnight Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cRgEzZTZBUA?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Entering the LVMS event \u2013 next-to-last race in the six-round Countdown to the Championship playoffs _ &nbsp;Beckman trails only teammate Austin Prock in the driver standings. Prock is a seven-time winner this season in the Cornwell Tools and AAA Chevrolet Camaro SS.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m still a work in progress,\u201d said Force, a 16-time world champion and winner of 157 national events.&nbsp;\u201cI have good days and bad days, but I\u2019m motivated.&nbsp;Beckman\u2019s been doing a good job working with Dan Hood, (Chris) Cunningham and (Tim) Fabrisi.&nbsp;He tells me it\u2019s still my car but he\u2019s driving it like it\u2019s his.&nbsp;It\u2019s been exciting to watch him and Prock on FOX but watching on TV is not the same as being there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Brittany Force \u2013 John\u2019s daughter and a two-time NHRA Top Fuel world champion _ is eighth in the standings heading into the schedule\u2019s penultimate round.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to be there for Brittany and that team with (David) Grubnic and John Collins,\u201d the elder Force said. \u201cThey\u2019re gonna win a race with Monster and HendrickCars.com and Chevrolet and I want to be there when they do, and I really can\u2019t wait to see all my guys.&nbsp;I love them and I\u2019ve missed them and can\u2019t wait to be with them again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The season will conclude with the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals at Pomona, Calif., Nov. 14-17.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Point standings (top-10)<\/strong> following the 39th annual Texas NHRA FallNationals at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, the 18th of 20 events in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series and Round 4 of the six-race Countdown to the Championship playoffs:<\/p>\n<p>Top Fuel _ 1.&nbsp;Justin Ashley, 2,422; 2.&nbsp;Antron Brown, 2,378; 3.&nbsp;Shawn Langdon, 2,346; 4.&nbsp;Steve Torrence, 2,334; 5.&nbsp;Tony Schumacher, 2,317; 6.&nbsp;Clay Millican, 2,308; 7.&nbsp;Doug Kalitta, 2,289; 8.&nbsp;Brittany Force, 2,232; 9.&nbsp;Tony Stewart, 2,181; 10.&nbsp;Billy Torrence, 2,167.<\/p>\n<p>Funny Car _ 1.&nbsp;Austin Prock, 2,537; 2.&nbsp;John Force\/Jack Beckman, 2,390; 3.&nbsp;Matt Hagan, 2,369; 4.&nbsp;Ron Capps, 2,357; 5.&nbsp;Bob Tasca III, 2,326; 6.&nbsp;Daniel Wilkerson, 2,238; 7.&nbsp;Blake Alexander, 2,234; 8.&nbsp;J.R.
