AUSTIN \u00a0\u2013 Austin Wayne Self<\/strong> turned in a career best 13th<\/sup>\u00a0place finish in his highly anticipated home track debut in Friday\u2019s\u00a0 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series<\/a> (NCWTS) Rattlesnake 400 at Texas Motor Speedway<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a thrill! This was a big night for me and our team,\u201d said Self, who delivered a solid performance in front of his home state fans.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019ve been coming here since I was a kid and have watched hundreds of laps.\u00a0 I think tonight might have been bigger than starting at Daytona at the beginning of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter struggling the last few races our AM Racing team stepped up and rebounded at the perfect time. Our guys did a great job all night long and gave me the opportunity to finish strong.\u00a0 I can\u2019t wait to come back in November and do this all over again.\u201d<\/p>\n

After a busy homecoming week filled with media appearances, Self, excitedly made his way to Texas Motor Speedway filled with optimism.\u00a0 Starting 18th<\/sup>\u00a0on the grid, the native Texan quickly raced his way inside the top-15 where he\u2019d remain throughout the course of 250-mile event.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything went pretty smooth this weekend.\u00a0 The truck handled great and we had good speed all night long.\u00a0 We made very few adjustments.\u00a0 I think we learned a lot which will really help us in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was cool having a lot of our team partners at the track weekend.\u00a0 I can\u2019t thank everyone enough for their continued support.\u00a0 Without them none of this is possible.\u00a0 Big thanks to AM Technical Solutions, Sid Miller (Texas Department of Agriculture), Don\u2019t Mess with Texas, Go Texan, Big Ass Fans, Rick\u2019s Salsa, Texas Tea, and Four Escobars.\u201d<\/p>\n

Friday\u2019s finish was Self\u2019s second top-15 and fourth top-20 finish in seven NCWTS attempts.\u00a0 He maintains 20th<\/sup>\u00a0position in the overall series driver point standings.<\/p>\n

Next up on the schedule is the SPEEDIATRICS 200 from Iowa Speedway on Saturday, June 18.<\/p>\n
