FORT WORTH – It was no-holds-barred racing at the season-opening doubleheader of TORC: The Off-Road Championship presented by AMSOIL. In the second night of championship racing at Texas Motor Speedway, Chad Hord earned his first win in PRO 4WD, while Keegan Kincaid and Kyle Hart both fought for back-to-back wins in PRO 2WD and Atturo Tire PRO Light.<\/p>\n

PRO 4WD<\/strong><\/div>\n
Chad Hord won his first-ever PRO 4WD race on Saturday, taking the lead on a last-lap pass. After earning second place in the 2014 PRO 2WD championship and finding his way through a developmental 2015 season in PRO 4WD, the veteran off-road racer said his time had come.<\/div>\n

“It wasn’t easy, but this off-season we dug deep on this PRO 4WD and got it ready for this season. We knew we had a truck capable of running with these guys and possibly winning,” said Hord, who took the runner-up spot in the PRO 4WD race a day earlier.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Defending champion CJ Greaves led early but dropped to the back of the pack with a mechanical issue, while his teammate and father — multi-time champion Johnny Greaves — fought his way across the line in second with a broken differential.<\/div>\n

“You could see I had to be really careful there,” said Greaves. “I definitely sacrificed a bit in the corners but that’s not taking anything away from Chad. He drove like a man possessed.”<\/div>\n

Rounding out the podium was Scott Douglas, who built an early lead and held it to the competition yellow, but dropped to third on the restart as Hord and Johnny Greaves battled past him to the checkered flag.<\/div>\n

Keegan Kincaid made the best of a mid-pack start Saturday, working his way to the front of the field in the opening laps and holding a lead to the finish. “We just settled in,” said Kincaid. “We knew it was a long race and started picking them off one by one when this race started.”<\/div>\n

Kyle Hart scored an impressive second-place finish, trading blows with CJ Greaves as the duo tandem drifted through the banked turns and charged hard together into the infield hairpin.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Greaves had to settle for third. “We had a faster truck,” said Greaves, visibly frustrated after the race. “He was just a wider truck tonight. We’ll regroup for next time and see what we can do.”<\/div>\n

Kyle Hart made it two-for-two in Texas — earning as many wins in this weekend’s opening doubleheader as he scored all last year. It was a hard-fought victory. “That was a crazy race; it wasn’t nearly as easy as it was yesterday when I got to get out front and led the whole thing.”<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Travis Dinsmore took the early lead as Hart, Shawn Morris, and Bobby Runyan Jr. battled behind him, running three-wide through multiple corners. But, Hart got the edge as Morris and Runyan faltered, and began to reel in the leader. He claimed the lead in an aggressive pass through the infield hairpin that brought the entire grandstand to their feet.<\/div>\n

Luke Johnson worked his way through the pack to finish second, while third went to Cam Reimers.<\/div>\n

The premier short-course off-road truck racing series next makes its way to the Chicago area for Chicagoland Slam June 10-11, the second doubleheader stop on the TORC Series calendar. The event at The Dirt Oval at Route 66 Raceway will feature championship action in PRO 4WD, PRO 2WD and Atturo Tire PRO Light, supported by competition from Midwest Off-Road Racing’s Sportsman classes. All drivers will race for points both Friday and Saturday, making for two action packed days of competition. Two-day tickets for the Chicagoland Slam doubleheader start at $25 for adults and $8 for kids.<\/div>\n
