After a restart with 10 laps left, all hell broke loose as the field approached Turn 3. Contact from Paul Menard’s No. 21 Ford sent Matt DiBenedetto’s No. 95 Toyota spinning into the outside wall and back across traffic. By the time cars finished wrecking, 21 cars had sustained damage ranging from minor to catastrophic.

<img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="23491" data-permalink="https://racedaysa.com/index.php/2019/02/17/denny-hamlin-gets-emotional-second-daytona-500-victory/monster-energy-nascar-cup-series-61st-annual-daytona-500-2/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/racedaysa.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/MENCS_DIS1_BigOne_021719.jpg?fit=2267%2C1511&ssl=1" data-orig-size="2267,1511" data-comments-opened="0" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"5","credit":"Getty Images","camera":"Canon EOS-1D X","caption":"DAYTONA BEACH, FL - FEBRUARY 17: Several car crash during the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series 61st Annual Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on February 17, 2019 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
