Playoff driver Ryan Blaney ran sixth and heads to Phoenix sixth in the standings, three points behind Hamlin.

Hendrick Motorsports drivers Chase Elliott and Jimmie Johnson are mired in seventh and eighth places, respectively, almost certainly needing a victory at Phoenix to advance to the Championship 4. Elliott came home eighth at Texas. Johnson lost two laps early because of an unscheduled pit stop and finished 27th, three laps down, his hopes for a record eighth title suffering a telling blow.

Media Center Interviews:

Race winner Kevin Harvick –

http://racedaysa.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/TMS_MENCS_Kevin_Harvick_110517.mp3

Second-place finisher Martin Truex Jr. and third-place finisher Denny Hamlin –

http://racedaysa.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/TMS_MENCS_Postrace_110517.mp3

Race winning team owner Tony Stewart and crew chief Rodney Childers –

http://racedaysa.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/TMS_MENCS_Winning_team_110517.mp3

<img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="13811" data-permalink="https://racedaysa.com/monster-energy-nascar-cup-series-aaa-texas-500-3/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/racedaysa.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/tms_mencs_-dale_earnhardtjr_110517-e1509931300836.jpg?fit=640%2C427&ssl=1" data-orig-size="640,427" data-comments-opened="0" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"10","credit":"Getty Images","camera":"Canon EOS-1D X","caption":"FORT WORTH, TX - NOVEMBER 05: Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the #88 Nationwide/Justice League Chevrolet, signs autographs for fans before the Driver/Crew Chief Meeting prior to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on November 5, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas.
