ENNIS, Texas \u2014<\/strong> NHRA Pro Stock legend Greg Anderson is heading into the Texas NHRA Fall Nationals with momentum on his side, setting the stage for a dramatic title fight with KB Titan Racing teammate Dallas Glenn.<\/p>\n

Anderson, the winningest driver in Pro Stock history, scored his sixth victory of the season at the NHRA Midwest Nationals in St. Louis on Sunday, slicing Glenn\u2019s championship lead from 79 points down to just 25. With only three Countdown to the Championship races left \u2014 Dallas, Las Vegas, and Pomona \u2014 every round at the famed Texas Motorplex could prove decisive.<\/p>\n

\u201cTiming is everything, and it all comes down to what you do and when you do it in drag racing,\u201d said Anderson, now a 112-time Pro Stock winner and six-time world champion. \u201cThere were a lot of big rounds in St. Louis, including the one against Dallas. It could have gone either way, but fortunately it was my day. That second-round win might have saved my Countdown.\u201d<\/p>\n

The win was classic Anderson: a strong late-season push from a driver who has built his career on thriving under pressure. At 63, Anderson continues to defy age and expectations, driving his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro with precision when it matters most. He advanced past Mason McGaha, Glenn, rookie Matt Latino, and finally Matt Hartford in the St. Louis final with a 6.531-second pass at 209.33 mph.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a huge confidence booster,\u201d Anderson said. \u201cGoing to Dallas alone is a confidence booster for me. I love that race, I love everything about the week, and I\u2019ve had a lot of success at the Motorplex. History shows that a lot of times the winner there ends up the world champion. I don\u2019t think that\u2019s a coincidence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anderson has had great success while racing at the Texas Motorplex. He scored victories in 2003, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2019 and 2021. Meanwhile, Glenn, who is looking to score his first Texas NHRA Fall Nationals win at the Texas Motorplex, could join an elite list of 17 other Pro Stock drivers that have won on the all-concrete dragstrip.<\/p>\n

Glenn, driving the RAD Torque Systems Chevrolet Camaro, has been the class of the field for much of the year, winning six races and holding the points lead nearly wire-to-wire. But Anderson\u2019s St. Louis victory not only cut into the lead but also reinforced that the veteran isn\u2019t ready to hand over the crown just yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a good day for KB Titan,\u201d Anderson said. \u201cWe got the win, held off the Elite team, and kept the points close. Now we\u2019re going to have three very interesting races going to the finish line, and may the best man win.\u201d<\/p>\n

So far this season, Glenn and Anderson have combined for 12 wins in 15 races, splitting them evenly at six apiece. They\u2019ve met in seven final rounds, with Anderson winning four. Glenn owns a 42-9 round win-loss record this year while Anderson is close behind at 40-9, underscoring how razor-thin the margin is between the teammates.<\/p>\n

Behind the duo, Hartford is third in the standings, 135 points back, with Aaron Stanfield and Troy Coughlin Jr. further behind. But all eyes are squarely on the KB Titan Racing rivalry \u2014 a friendly but fierce intra-team clash that could define the 2025 Pro Stock championship.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe number one goal for me is for KB Titan to win,\u201d Anderson said. \u201cWhether it\u2019s Dallas or myself, we\u2019ll do everything we can to bring it home. He\u2019s a great racer, and a championship is waiting to happen for him. I\u2019m just trying to hold on as long as I can \u2014 maybe one more year, maybe more. We\u2019ll see. But the good news is we have a great one-two punch.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Texas NHRA Fall Nationals, part of the Motorplex\u2019s Stampede of Speed, has long been one of the most pivotal races on the NHRA calendar. Known as the \u201cHouse that Billy Built,\u201d the track has a history of producing championship-shaping moments. This year the track is celebrating its 40th anniversary season. With the season finale at Pomona offering points-and-a-half, Dallas looms as the ultimate swing race.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love racing there,\u201d Anderson said. \u201cIt\u2019s one of those tracks where the cream rises to the top. You\u2019ve got to execute every round, from the first to the final. That\u2019s what makes Dallas special \u2014 and why it might just decide this championship.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Texas NHRA Fall Nationals run Oct. 8\u201312 at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, followed by the Nevada Nationals in Las Vegas and the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals in Pomona.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
