AUSTIN, Texas \u2013 Sheldon Creed won the Pole Award on Friday for the second annual NASCAR Camping World Truck Series XPEL 225 race at Circuit of The Americas.<\/p>\n

Creed, driving the No. 20 Wiley X Chevrolet, recorded a lap time of 134.934 seconds, 90.985 mph during qualifying time trials. This is his first pole in 76 NCWTS races. He will be aiming for his ninth career win when 24-year old Alpine, Calif. native leads the field to green on Saturday at noon at COTA.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really happy with how it\u2019s driving,\u201d Creed said. \u201cWe really haven\u2019t changed a whole lot. I feel like \u2013 with the repave \u2013 there\u2019s a lot more grip in some areas. I don\u2019t feel like the tire fall off is as bad, at least for me. I feel like I got better after the second or third lap.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zane Smith will start alongside Creed on the front row. Alex Bowman qualified third, Parker Kligerman fourth and Kyle Busch fifth.<\/p>\n

Thirty six drivers will compete in the race including Texas drivers Austin Wayne Self of Austin (15th) and Logan Bearden of Leander (21st).<\/p>\n
