He recorded his first win of the season at Phoenix International Raceway in his third start of the season. Qualifying\" data-image-description=\"\" data-image-caption=\"\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/racedaysa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Harvick_Kevin_Tradition2016.jpg?fit=640%2C427\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1858\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/racedaysa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Harvick_Kevin_Tradition2016.jpg?resize=300%2C200\" alt=\"NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Daytona 500 - Qualifying\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/racedaysa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Harvick_Kevin_Tradition2016.jpg?resize=300%2C200 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/racedaysa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Harvick_Kevin_Tradition2016.jpg?resize=768%2C512 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/racedaysa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Harvick_Kevin_Tradition2016.jpg?resize=1024%2C683 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/racedaysa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Harvick_Kevin_Tradition2016.jpg?resize=284%2C190 284w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/racedaysa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Harvick_Kevin_Tradition2016.jpg?resize=99%2C66 99w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/racedaysa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Harvick_Kevin_Tradition2016.jpg?w=2000 2000w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/racedaysa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Harvick_Kevin_Tradition2016.jpg?w=3000 3000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, we have run very well at all of the different styles of racetracks, so to me that is the most important thing,\u201d Harvick said.\u00a0 \u201cWe are leading laps and running upfront and doing the things that we need to do to win races.\u00a0 We\u2019ve had good cars pretty much everywhere we have been.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harvick added, \u201cWe have to keep that up, keep that position and take advantage of the days that cycle around and all the circumstances that play out.\u00a0 Hopefully we will capitalized on six or seven of those this year and get yourself in position by the end of the year to have a chance to win a championship in Homestead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So far this season there have been five different winners during the first six NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.\u00a0 Besides Harvick, Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski have also scored victories.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had some great races during the first six races,\u201d Harvick said.\u00a0 \u201cThe downforce package has contributed a lot to that. \u00a0There is a lot of room to grow and make that package better as we move forward.\u00a0 The racing has been fun from the driver\u2019s seat and I think that was the first thing that everyone wanted to achieve.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we keep on going down this road and making the adjustments and doing the things that the drivers all think we need to do to the cars, I think the racing will continue to get better.\u00a0 As the cars slide around and doing the things they are doing with less downforce, then I think that is good for racing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite Harvick\u2019s recent success, he said that winning on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule has become very difficult in recently years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard to win in this sport,\u201d Harvick said.\u00a0 \u201cPeople ask me that all of the time the last few years at Stewart-Hass Racing, \u2018man you are out front all of the time.\u2019 But sometimes racing out front is harder than racing six in a pack.\u00a0 Because there\u2019s so many different things that you can do, you do the opposite of what the leader does, so it\u2019s hard to win races.00<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s also hard to be successful on a consistent basis.\u00a0 For us we are fortunately to be in a position to be competitive every week.\u00a0 Complaining about that would not be the right thing to do.\u00a0 Our sport is competitive and you never know who the next person is going to be to win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harvick said that while chasing that elusive Sprint Cup win at Texas is a priority, there are other fond moments that he still looks back on and cherishes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will never forget the Truck Series race we won here in 2011,\u201d Harvick said.\u00a0 \u201cThat was the last race that we won as Truck Series owners in 2011.\u00a0 We won that night and that was the last race we won at KHI before we shut the teams down.\u00a0 There was a lot of emotion and time spent to have that team.\u00a0 That was one of the special moments that we had there.\u00a0 I\u2019d like to get a win at all of the racetracks that we haven\u2019t won at yet and Texas is one of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Photos courtesy of NASCAR<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FORT WORTH \u2013 If there is one thing that NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Kevin Harvick wants to do more than anything else this weekend is to win Saturday\u2019s Duck Commander 500 race at Texas Motor Speedway.
