Four Roses for Fun
Tonight’s Monster Energy Drink Series Quaker 400 is at Kentucky Speedway. When in Kentucky, do as the Kentuckians do. That means drinking bourbon. When I used to travel to Louisville for work, I went to several Bourbon bars, and one of the great bourbons was Four Roses. A smooth bourbon like this can be enjoyed straight up over ice. If you’re looking for a nice cocktail made smoother by Four Roses, try an old fashioned whiskey sour or drink it with ginger ale like me. I think ginger makes a nice compliment to bourbon. If you’re wanting some good bourbon to sip while you watch tonight’s race, you should grab some Four Roses!
Four Roses Old Fashioned Whiskey Sour
2 oz. Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
1 oz. fresh lemon juice
¾ oz. simple syrup (equal parts white sugar to water)
1 egg white (if using pasteurized egg whites = ½ ounce)
Place all ingredients into an ice-filled shaker, adding the egg white last. Shake vigorously and strain into an ice-filled rocks glass, garnish with lemon peel and a cocktail cherry. Enjoy!
