I have been avoiding NASCAR. I have been depressed. With the announcement of Dale’s retirement I have had to come to terms with the fact that NASCAR is changing. I took some time to process, and I’m ready to embrace the new faces of the sport. Today I’ll be rooting for Chase Elliot, my new favorite driver. I’d be comfortable with a Ryan Blaney or Kyle Larson win, though. Those young guys are driving great!  So, as I watch the Coca Cola 600 today at Charlotte Motor Speedway, I’ll be back to enjoying the races. Today’s festivities at our house will include southern pulled pork sandwiches, cream corn and macaroni cheese with some craft beer. Craft beer is very big in Charlotte!  Now, you know I don’t drink beer, so I’ll be drinking a Captain and Coke while Mike enjoys his beer!  Whatever you decide to eat and drink today, enjoy the race and try cheering for one of those new young drivers!

Mike will enjoy some local craft beer.  The Speedway Club at Charlotte Motor Speedway serves several different craft beers, and Oskar Blues Brewery beers make the list!

i’m having a classic rum and Coke in honor of the Coca Cola 600. I’m just mixing it with my favorite spiced rum, Captain Morgan!
